Using the Garmin Forerunner Running GPS Watch For Interval Training

!±8± Using the Garmin Forerunner Running GPS Watch For Interval Training

Looking for a GPS running watch? Few would argue that Garmin's Forerunner line is not among the leading contenders in the GPS running watch market.

After their widely acclaimed Forerunner 205/305 and in more recent times the 405, Garmin have just released two upgrades to their popular sports timepieces, the Forerunner 405CX, an upgrade to the 405 and the Forerunner 310XT which improves on the 205/305 watches.

The 310XT is the more revolutionary of the two upgrades with water resistance and a much longer battery life, but the 405CX, which has improved calorie measuring abilities is selling at a price very close to the 405, so is a worthy purchase if you are buying a new watch.

One of the reasons for the Forerunner's popularity is the watch's support features that can be used in all types of running training. One such feature (or group of features), that caters to the diverse types of running sessions are the Forerunner Workout Types.

The Forerunner watches support four different workout types:
Simple Workouts Heart Rate Workouts Interval Workouts; and Advanced workout types. This article explores only Interval Workouts and how they can be applied to Interval or repetition training. Our website has more information on the other Forerunner workout types.

Most runners who have trained seriously are familiar with interval training. For those who are not, Interval training is simply a series of hard runs with a recovery period. For example an interval training session might be: 10x 400m with 3 minutes rest after each 400m hard run.

Forerunner Interval Workouts can be used to track your repetition workouts and with it's GPS abilities, can signal when to start or stop based on the distance you have run. This allows you to workout by distance, even in areas where you have no foreknowledge of the actual distance in advance.

Interval Workouts, unlike Advanced Workouts can be created on the wrist-watch. To create one, you first set the type of workout, (distance or time), the repetition duration or time, the recovery time or distance and the number of repetitions in the workout. Forerunner Interval Workouts also lets you set an optional warm-up and cool-down period at the beginning and end.

As you approach the end of each interval, an alarm sounds and counts down until the next interval. An interval can be manually ended at any time with the LAP/RESET button. If you include a warm-up, the Forerunner will switch to the warm-up phase when you start the session (press LAP to end the warm-up and start your first interval). If you set a cool-down, the watch enters this phase after your last interval.

Garmin has spent a lot of time and effort designing their Forerunner watches to deliver the features that runner's need. The company's innovations have driven it's Forerunner watches to the forefront of the running watch market. We have only begun to scratch the surface with Interval Workouts. Much more information on Forerunner watches can be found on our website.

Features and advantages of the GPS running watches - an introduction to high-tech sports watches with GPS

!±8± Features and advantages of the GPS running watches - an introduction to high-tech sports watches with GPS

Running GPS Watch Technology Watch a recent invention and have the opportunity to have the network of GPS satellites to determine the exact location on Earth. By calculating the small changes in its position has the possibility of a GPS clock speed and distance, opening the possibility of being accused of new features for runners. Some of the most important of these appear in a different way than the capacity of real-time speed and rhythm of the clock during the execution,Speed, pace and distance alerts that notify you if you fall down you have your goal pace or overdoing it in the search of your time goal.

In the realization of a workout, where a representative of hard and slow recovery have GPS clocks can automatically record lap distance instead of time-based - the standard method in most clocks running, he found a timer function to intervals. Popular sports such as GPS clockshave in the Garmin Forerunner series, the ability to automatically pause the clock, say at the same time that you no longer move, if you're forced to stop by traffic lights or other destructive events.

A common problem with a GPS watch, runners often complain, is the size and bulkiness because of the need for the antenna to be mounted inside the watch. While the size of the antenna has been reduced over time and is now with the release of the new SiRFstarIVReceiver is smaller and lighter than ever, is an alternative when buying a sports watch that the recipient is in a separate external device worn on the body implements. There are advantages and disadvantages of this approach. While the size of the watch is small with this method, you need the external device to your body that are uncomfortable and inconvenient to set up some before they can be linked to each run. An external device requires batteries, which regularlyreplaced, compared to a piece of watches like the Garmin Foreunner watches, which are rechargeable.

Overcoming Fatigue - How do you rate your improvement in the Long Distance Running

!±8± Overcoming Fatigue - How do you rate your improvement in the Long Distance Running

Fatigue and speed to take the opposite ends of endurance running performance. Fatigue is the primary factor that limits exercise in the increasingly long distances. But of course if you just run faster, you should complete the race faster and keep knocking on the door of the hard work first.

Driving the need for many runners. How can I be faster? First, as I compare it to running training for baking a cake. If you bake a cake, you need to combine a series ofIngredients such as flour, sugar, eggs, yeast and milk. If you omit one of these ingredients, you will do something, but it will be a breeze.

Like cooking, training for endurance run also includes a set of basic ingredients: easy runs, running time, intervals, hills and long, slow run. Let one of these and you get results, but the best results for the resistance. But how do these work for you to run faster and lessFatigue?

First, there is the long, slow run. These races can last, time, and cover many miles in the marathon runners that help the body to develop low energy storage. To stimulate the right kind of development, it is necessary to moderate the heart rate, which is run at 70-80% of maximum heart rate (MHR). The hardest part for me - and I think a lot of runners fall into this camp - is the assessment that the level of commitment to a journey that can last for 2 or more hours.

That's why ILawyer with a heart rate monitor for long distance slow. Think of your heart rate monitor, the temperature gauge on a stove. A baker can not bear good results when they have to guess the temperature of the oven. You might think you have a pretty good idea of what appears on your level of effort. The heart rate will tell you exactly what your level of exertion.

Then, there are ski time. These tracks are long distances at a pace slightly faster than light or long runs slow. Thebest description I heard for the necessary level of effort is that they were "pleasantly hard." In other words, you are fast enough, but you feel like you could hold for 20, 30, 40 or even 50 minutes. These courses will help you develop the ability to run faster for a while longer before you feel exhausted.

Then we build speed all important: the intervals, fartlek and hill. All of this strong growth of muscles and challenge your body in a way thatstimulates the development of fast twitch muscle fibers in muscle functioning. If you want to run faster, this type of work is mandatory and must be hard and fast. They are in the area of your higher level of work effort. I really do not see him with a heart rate monitor to see if I worked hard enough. Can the way I feel when I'm in training zone right to say. But I know that with a heart rate monitor for me to train my heart rate between the lower ranges.

Finally, I would be remiss ifI think that is not included in the mix of easy runs training. This short, simple effort is made may not seem to have a place in a heavy training program, since it does not seem to develop distance, speed, strength or ability. However, you need the old adage that training stimulates the muscles to remember, but during the rest of the muscle growth actually occurs. A rider who has always trained hard and long a runner who is working on a wound. Break and some tracks will be easymake it stronger and faster in the long term and keep the wound free.

To improve the speed in the race long distance and reduce feelings of tiredness, your training program to integrate these elements. Maybe not every week, but certainly in phases. How to bake a cake for my analogy, each of these ingredients play an important role to play in achieving results. Use them all in the right quantities and enjoy success in your training and your race.
